A student at New Convenant Charter school was given a wedgie over the summer by a teacher. As a result, the teacher, Mark Holley, 41, of Scotia, is faced with a misdemeanor charge after the boy's mother contacted authorities.
Now the article was unclear as to whether the student didn't like it and told his mother or whether he was laughing about it while he told his mother. But apparently that is irrelevant.
Honestly, wedgies are probably not the most appropriate thing you could give to a student, but just how far can people go to freaking out about their childrens interactions with adults. People are so afraid to talk things out amongst eachother and confront trivial issues that they hide themselves behind authority.
Good points. Glad you didn’t just write off this incident but rather suggested a solution — such as working it out without having official legal charges brought against the offender.
People, and especially those in positions of authority such as teachers, should treat others with respect and deal with the consequences of their actions. The teacher was inappropriate, but is being arrested the best way to handle this situation? That’s the question.

I think, perhaps, that a wedgie from the teacher might very well follow a student’s reputation clear-on through middle age. “Remember that time professor so-and-so ripped Martin’s tighty-whities?! Classic.”
